A number of years ago my pushbutton, two speed transmission reverse broke. I had the transmission rebuild locally. After that it might shift out of low after an extended idle time or a long slow ride then it would hopefully shift. The transmission shop closed and left town.

Since then it has been in my garage waiting for me to do something. Just retired so I am trying to resolve now.

Is it possible that it could be the wrong transmission fluid? I need to find which one to use now.

I have found a recommended shop a bit of a distance away who I need to schedule a time for repair.

Any help or hints about the problem will be appreciated.

Thank You,

Ok, I've done 3 of these. Used Dexron 111 fluid, but I don't think that is the issue. How is reverse operating? I assume trans is full.

Reverse works.

It will not shift out of low unless it warms up idling for a long time and only sometimes. Otherwise must drive for mile or two then it will shift.

Transmission is full.

Usually that Indicates an internal pressure loss., the trans should be pressure tested per shop manual, to pin down the problem.

Sounds like either governor problem or stuck valve/s
