Woops.
Amend my post. Ray's right. You depress these tabs from the *FRONT* of the bulkhead and not the rear where the wire enters the bulkhead....

Look at the slot the wires are socketed into. It should look like a flat slot with a notch on 1 side or the other.
On top of the connector there is a little tab sticking up. When pushed into the slot, it locks (pops up into a recess inside the slot) so it won't pull back out. Your job is to go in from the front and kinda push it back down, sometimes by twisting the screwdriver or just levering it a little, using a small flat blade like a mini screwdriver.
Slide it down the notch and push somewhat hard from the plug end or face.
If you have any empty slots, see if it looks like I described inside using a strong light.
It's been a long time since i worked on these plugs, but that's the way I 'member it!
You may also be able to carefully just push the connecter thru from the wire side to the front and then crunch the tab down and pull it back thru.
Ain't it fun???

Anybody care to share the secret as to how to disconnect the wire unions inside the plastic bulkhead on the firewall that connects the dash wires to the engine wires? Just yanking on the wires on either side will break the crimp and leave me with a bare wire and the connection brass still insde the plastic frame. I'm sure that they snap together when the cars were new but how do they "unsnap" together?
