OK I risk seeming/being stupid, but as no one else seems to have replied - Could the red ends just be they were on a car when that car was painted red, and the ends ended up with red paint on them ??

Subject: [Chrysler300] Deck Lid Torsion Bars
Hello, everyone:
Does anyone know why the roller end of deck lid torsion bars on the '64 Chrysler
convertible are painted red? The bars appear to be interchangeable, but are
they? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Best,
Ron Kurtz
