I don't know if this was still true by 1958, but the 1950 DeSoto that my father bought new came with a Willard Battery.  I think Chrysler Corp. used several brands of batteries during that time and Willard was one of them.

  I did some reserch to try and find what the original Battery was for my 61 300-G. I read that the original batteries were not Mopar batteries but some other brand. I have seen some old pictures were you could read Autolite printed on the battery. I read somewhere that the dealers sold Mopar batteries as replacements only. Not sure if that is true, maybe someone else will comment on this.

  I've got a photo of my car's engine compartment in 1958 and it looks like just a plain black battery.

  Does anyone know what battery was factory in 1958? I see repros with the MoPar logo, but don't know if they are correct?
