{Chrysler 300} Fuel line fitting?

Folks

I bought an in-line 2x4 AFB carb pairing recently and it had this (obviously) non-stock fuel line setup.

My question is: what is this inline unit? It has this small threaded nipple and I’m at a loss for what this would be for.

Any feedback would be appreciated!
