Speedometers usually have a wire that goes through the back of the housing and has a red plastic terminal that plugs into the gauge (oil I think) with the extra blade for EL lights… I can double check that… Someone else can chime in about the high pitched hum at the switch but my guess is that is somewhat common. Maybe the switch could use a little cleaning or a shot of DeOxit5. Also don’t forget your ground wire! In fact install an extra as John Grady has suggested in the past.
