Hello group,
I have a friend who owns a 1989 Shelby Daytona, 2.2L, 5-speed, black and
silver.
It's been sitting for about 3 years since the timing chain skipped a
tooth.
It now needs brake and clutch work as well. Body appears very good for
the year.
Wheels alone probably worth $200.00, and he realizes he'll never get to
it.
Let me know if anyone is interested. Car is in Westford, MA.
Also, can someone please talk me out of a 1958 Plymouth Suburban 2-dr
wagon project?
Needs floor pans, but body is decent. A Christine Nomad!? Cool swap
meet/tow vehicle.
Please stop me before I sin again!
John

Having sold my C300 to Chrysler Corp, I now can take the top dollars
received
and buy three of the less desirable models, an F convertible, a C
convertible, and I think a J hardtop highly modified to beat George with.

With all this talk lately about what few salvage yards left that carry
1960's and back parts - maybe it would be a good idea if we compiled a
club
list of them (with location and contact info) on a state-by-state basis.
I'd be willing to compile the list - and I figure at some point in the
future when we think it's reasonably complete - that it could be published
in the newsletter for the benifit of all the clubmembers who are not on
the
listserver also...
Just an idea....
Sean.

I'm looking for 4 15 x 6 stock wheels for my 300G. Can anyone tell me if
other Chrysler models used the same wheels as the 300G? Maybe the
Imperial or New Yorker wagon?
Thanks,
Jeff Gretz

Hi All,
Some of you may remember Bill Franklin, a former 300 member, who lives
near
Crystal Lake, IL. He has quite a few Kelsey-Hayes Wire Wheels (15 inch).
Some
of them need restoring completely and some of them are in good shape for a
driver.
He wants to sell them. If he can't find anyone who wants them, he was
going
to bring
them to a local junk yard. They have tires on them and they can't be
given
to the
garbage collection service.
We may be able to get pictures of the better wheels.
If they are worth anything to anyone, please contact me privately.
Thanks-

Just thought I'd make a note here. If you are referring to
Chrysler/Imperial Wire Wheels Kelsey-Hayes never built them. They were
produced by MotorWheel. This is a common error in statement or text.
Kelsey did build wheels for Ford, GM and Packard.

Don Rook did this several years ago. Hard to tell how many yards are still
in
operation, however his directory would be a great place to start.

the engine is in. sounds great and idles like a 60's car should. the
edelbrock heads i am happy with, but with the cast iron long tube headers,
factory
ones, the plugs are kinda close to the header. no problem though, there is
enough
room there.
i have not been able to drive it, due to the fact of the high flow fuel
pump,
brand name, is leaking. summit is sending me a replacement. one more day,
then i can see what she'll do. all in all, i am happy, 50 lbs of oil
pressure at
idle, a relatively smooth idle, crisp response, looks good, unpainted
heads
and valley pan.
ill keep you all posted, tim

Subject: 300C rear uni & trans binds?
1. I have just fitted a new rear uni, supposedly nos, the one with the
ears
you bolt up to the diff - yetwhen fitted, it is near impossible to get a
grease gun onto the grease nipple so grease goes in - is this common, and
is
that why often rear unis seem worn?!
2. I have noticed an occassional binding, or dragging, when moving the
car,
and now with the tailshaft out, the problem/binding is in the trans. in
Nuetral, when turning the handbrake drum by hand, it seems to bind, or
seize
- is this unusual, wrong - and if so what is usually the reason, cure.
The
trans is working ok otherwise, should I investigate, or wait till worse
happens.
3. What numbers are cast in the diff housing to signify a limited slip
diff,
cannot turn a wheel without the other turning, and on take off it nevers
spins one wheel like car without limited slip? Car hinted at, seemed, a
likely contendor for previous dragstrip use, so maybe if not original, was
fitted later.
no real news here from oz, spring weather finally seeming more common
after
a wet winter.
