Re: [Chrysler300] Proper keys for C-300

Hi Rich and All,

Chrysler used aluminum keys for quite a few years in the '50s. I have a '50 Desoto (bought new by my father) that came with three different keys, all aluminum. There was a separate key for the ignition/doors, trunk, and glove box. Those aluminum keys were rather soft and tended to wear a lot easier others. But I still have them and they still work. When you had extra keys made, the blanks were usually the brass ones with the nickel plate. The original keys all had the DPCD logo on them, and the official ones at key shops also had the same trademark. You could also get generic ones at some shops. I believe my '57 Plymouth also had aluminum keys.

Hope this has been helpful.

Both sets of my original '56 keys are plain aluminum with
the octagonal and rounded triangle shapes you described.
