I don't know the specific weight of my 331 but it sure is a lot heavier
than a Chevy small block or a Pontiac 455.  When we were installing the
engine and transmission back into my C300 I had to stand on the back of
the cherry picker because it was lifting the rear wheels off the ground.
We use this cherry picker in our fleet garage and it is extra heavy
duty.  The engine also severely taxed my engine stand.  Fully assembled
it caused the front of the engine to drop down several inches.

I'm receiving comments about the weight of the early hemi shown in that
web page chart.   I've heard many times that they are not near as heavy
as they look and the often quoted 800 lbs is including the cast iron
torqueflite.

Does someone have a complete (but w/o torqueflite) early hemi they can
weigh or another motor weight chart that significantly differs?
