That answers about the gel/dry batteries.  What about the sealed  batteries 
we have in our modern cars?  They have a voltage regulator so the  could cook 
if the voltage regulator dies.  Granted this refers to modern  cars but we al 
drive them and I personally really don't want my engine  compartment covered 
with battery acid. Do they vent or can they explode if  overcharged?
