Re: [Chrysler300] what to do with a 300J

Hi Lee and All:
First of all, a really rare 300 is saved, thankfully. Secondly, the future
owner does not really HAVE to spend the "big restoration bucks" to have a
nice car to use as originally intended: drive and enjoy. That person
(unfortunately not me---I will not live long enough to do my "projects"!) could treat
that solid 300J like we used to. Don't try to put it a perfect "concours"
condition, just a presentable, useable one. People will still love to see the
car and the owner will still recieve 98% of the compliments a 100 point car
would bring. I know---what with today's parts and labor prices, even a
functional, presentable resto is not cheap, but it is a darn sight cheaper than
concours quality! Just a couple of thoughts in this mad world of half million
dollar (and more??) pony cars.

Howdy gang, I just hauled home a 300J. Missing the air cleaners,
otherwise a complete old California car that is pretty loaded with
options. Car needs to be restored. Car is not that bad, minimal rust to
deal with, it does need some rear quarter repair due to previous fender
bender accident damage. Car has AC, power windows and seat, fancy radio
and rear power antennae, original red car with red guts.
The problem is that the car is too nice to part out, but may not be
worth restoring unless someone is willing to take one for the team and
commit financial suicide to do this car. Are the 300Js and ram Ks going
to go up in value some day? Who knows I guess. Kind of a shame though,
the rarest and the fastest of all the 300s and also the dorkiest looking
so nobody cares about them. I have already parted out another 300J, I
don't think I have it in me to part this one out, at least not right
now. So I guess I will let it sit here for a while and I'll stare at it
and think it over.
