I agree with you (about the H being the best looking letter car)...to each
his (her) own likings...

Jean in Switzelrand with an H and a '62 Newport (drove it this am to
work...wonderful)

Rick, I say this in jest and am not trying to start any styling
controversy. Those of us with 300H's take umbrage to your statement that
62 Chryslers look fat and stodgy! In my opinion, the H is the cleanest
and best looking letter car produced after the C-300.   Doug Warrener

Styling is a matter of opinion and aesthetic sense. While I loved the
looks
of the canted fin 61Chryslers, fins were over. GM had taken over the
styling
lead with its modern, sleek, finless new designs, such as the 61 Olds
Starfire and the bubbletop Chevy Impala SS. They made the 62 Chryslers
look
fat and stodgy. To me, a Mopar guy at age 13, the 1963 Chryslers - and
the
rest of the Mopar lineup looked great, especially the Chrysler hardtops.
The
300J was my favorite car - period. It looked sleek and powerful, yet
clean
and understated, with crisp, flowing architectural lines.

The J was also the last letter that was true to the original formula:
high
performance and luxury as standard equipment. Dual quads, HD suspension,
leather interior, power accessories, 150 mph speedo, tach. It was a
complete
package, unlike the K and the L. Now I love my K on its merits, but
Chrysler
made most of the letter features optional extras to make the car more
competitive on price.

I was lucky to find a low mileage mechanically excellent J in Memphis
this
past December. It will be given a quality cosmetic restoration. I want a
"show/driver" to keep. It took me 46 years to obtain. And it won't be a
bad
investment, either. J and K values are being pulled up by the buzz of
the
new Chrysler 300s  and the skyrocketing values of C,D,F and G's.
