RE: [Chrysler300] Need Help From Owners of 300s with 14 Inch Wheels

I recall the same clicking sound and cover movement on my 1966, with 14"
wheels. I would have to realign the wheelcover weekly or it would cut
off the valve stem. No bumps were on these wheels. However, the
problem only occurred with radial tires, not with the bias ply.
Something to do with flexing of the radial tire.

Tony,
My C wheels do not have the retention bumps. I noticed some
wheelcover
rotation placing some torque on the valve stem on one of the wheels and
thought that the wheelcover claws needed to be bent outwards to increase
the
grab on the wheel. I did this about 25 miles ago and so far so good. I
monitor each wheel after driving her to see if there is any cover
travel.
Bump wheels designed to prohibit this would be greatly appreciated. I
remember as a kid the "wheelcover creeper" sound made by my buddy's
dad's
Plymouth. I thought he had something clicking against the wheelcover but
my
father said that it was the wheelcover creeping. ROB KERN
