A slow leak will carry away very little oil with the freon, however, a
catastrophic leak that losses the freon in a matter of a minute or less
may carry away enough oil to cause compressor failure.

Visible bubbles are normal at start up and until the system temps
stabilize.  They will return each time the compressor cycles.
