[Chrysler300] More on Torqueflite Leakage



Several weeks ago, there was a discussion on the listserver concerning the  
several tens of seconds delay some of us experience when first shifting into  
gear after the car has been sitting for several days.  The conclusion of  most 
was that fluid was leaking out of the torque converter, and the delay  was  
caused by the time required for the transmission's front pump to  re-fill the 
converter.  If this is the case, it  would be reasonable  to assume that the 
fluid leaks back into the pan, and the pan would be  overfilled, and therefore 
prone to leakage.  Clearly this is not what is  supposed to happen.  There must 
be (is?) some sort of check valve to  prevent this torque converter leak down 
from occurring.  Where exactly if  this check valve located, if such a thing 
exists?  I can't believe that I'm  going to have to always have to have a pan 
under the car to collect leaking  tranny fluid, and that I will have to add 
fluid every time that I drive the car  after sitting for several days.  Terry
