Re: [Chrysler300] Sway Bar on 300G

Kenny & List -

About Saner: I have Saner's bars on the front & rear on my '64 - John Carlson, who owns Saner, is nearly a one-man show, and long-distance communication is not one of his strong points. When Addco was in Florida, he was their new product development guy.

I've known John for a few years, and I live within an hour of his shop. My elderly mother is about 1/8 mile away, and I'm at her house at least once a week. If you need help in contacting him, let me know.

John fabricated non-stock brackets that replace the part you described that was bent. The factory sway bar mounts that use 3 bolts to fasten to the frame are still used. The adaptor bracket that John fabricates are functional, to accomodate a much thicker bar (1-1/4 - 1-1/2" diameter), but not stock in appearance. The rear bars use U-bolts on the axle and require drilling into the rear unibody "frame rails" for the ends. I can send pics out if anyone is interested.

It looks like John let his website hosting expire. (772) 873-9222 should be the phone number to reach John at Saner - address as follows:

  1753 SW Biltmore St
Port St Lucie, FL 34984

Here's a thought - if there is enough interest at any time, I could have John make a run of bars and front bar adaptor brackets for the unibody cars (at least 1960-64), and there would be not waiting/poor communication/etc. in getting them to Club members. Either I or the Club could keep a few on hand. I know I'll be taking my 300-D there when it's back on the road for his sway bars.

  John Spiers
  Lake Worth, Florida

Hey gang. I just had the sway bar pop out of it's end bracket on the
driver's side on my G ...odd. It appears this might have been made possible
by the fact that the Y-shaped bracket that attaches the sway bar to the
frame is bent. It appears to be farther forward than the one on the
passenger side, therefore, I'm assuming the bracket was somehow bent
forward. I doubt that's correct. Any advice? My mechanic says he can heat
up the bracket and bend it, but can't guarantee the stability of the part
afterward. Is this a part I can get somewhere? Are both sides the same?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Kenny

PS: I've checked the 300 website's list of Sway Bar vendors. Quickor
Suspension seems to be out of business, Saner's website is simply referrals
to other sites for auto accessories, and Addco's website doesn't look like
they carry Chrysler parts for older than 1963.
