RE: [Chrysler300] Specs for a 300G

My Dad's G, ex Bud Faubel's, has both latch and striker painted body
color, and I am not aware that he ever had any paint work done on the
jambs. Randy

Maybe there is something to the early production for the G? My coupe was
built in August. When I bought it, it was mostly original and the
latches were not painted. The convertible was built in November and they
are painted.

Off to Mexico, lucky me.

John & all,

I don't doubt that the original cars mentioned had painted latches and
came
that way from the factory. Having said that, I have an early production
300G convertible here that is in need of a restoration. This car seems
to be
very original and is an early production G, with a scheduled build date
of
9- 30- 60. The latches in the doors are definitely NOT painted. The only
reason I can see that these are not painted are that they either came
from
the factory that way, or someone replaced both latches which seems
unlikely
to me. Couldn't it be that painting the latches was a just a production
change? I know this won't explain why the 300F cited had painted
latches,
but I'm not convinced the early 300Gs had painted latches. Are there any
other early G owners out there that have unpainted latches and have a
fair
certainty that they never were?
