[Chrysler300] 300L Restoration begins

Hi all,

I'm diving into the restoration of a 65L convertible and have a million questions (but will
try to restrain myself). Car was restored to nice driver status once but has sat since 1989.
I'm not looking to make this a show car, just something to take the kids to get ice cream
in once in a while.

A local mechanic started to play with it but hit a wall pretty quickly. Motor wouldn't turn
over--removed valve covers and manifold and saw rusted valves, a couple of bent push
rods (from trying to start it), lots of sludge.

Instead of a rebuild, he suggested finding a running, used 413 or 383 to put in. Not many
are turning up locally and I'm wary of buying from a long-distance seller.

I also spoke with a MOPAR specialist who offered to do the rebuild or get a rebuilt engine
from Jasper if need be. He is also looking around for a running, used engine.

The motor is NOT the original 413 but a 383 from a vintage 1966 so trying to keep as
much of it intact as possible doesn't really apply.

Any thoughts/recos/names and numbers would be appreciated. I'm located 20 miles west
of Boston.

Many thanks.
