Re: [Chrysler300] News on repo 300C-E rear 1/4s?

We receive parts for our auto/truck shop from Phoenix via a custom delivery service. Service is pretty pathetic but UPS is no better. Body parts come by here every morning headed for local body shops in the delivery service truck. Packaging is most generally non existant for body pieces I have seen. Reason for custom handling rather than mass handling is to minimize damage in transit. Damage is inevitable. At some level, acceptable in the collision repair business.

From one body shop manager, I was told that any new panel from a dealer would definately have damage. Up to a limit, dealer would be responsible for cost to rework(?). Too much rework and panel went back and body shop got another. But, no new panel would be installed without some rework necessary.

Would seem to me that the subject quarter panels would best be handled personally. Would be a big stretch to expect in my opinion, and from my experiences, that manufacturer would step up to shipping damage even if packaging is terrible. Special packaging to properly support a panel for shipping might well be outside shop capability and for low volume production, probably too costly I would suppose.
