RE: [Chrysler300] power brake booster for K

I had the booster on my 1955 C-300 rebuilt at Power Brake Exchange in San
Jose, CA. Price was exorbitant, but turnaround, finish and performance are
OK. I paid extra for a goldine finish, then found out it is improper.
Whoever does the work needs to know what finish you need--it appears to be
an afterthought to some shops. The shop looked fairly professional. Others
have had bad luck with their overhauls there of the one-year-only Kelsey
Hayes unit, primarily due to premature failure of the main diaphragm which
has to be custom molded. I suspect they can do a satisfactory job if they
can get the correct design and quality parts (and who couldn't?).

I had a very bad experience in getting the brake booster for my 62 300H
conv done by Booster Dewey. He may have rebuild the innards but the exterior
looked like a quickie spray bomb finish which we of course had to redone to
make it look presentable.
I'm told that there's a much better place in California to rebuild those
correctly the first time around. Just my 2 cents worth.

Hi Al,

"Dewey Booster" in Portland, Oregon rebuilds them. He is out of service
until Monday, September 24, 2007 as he had to change location and comply
with environmental regulations. He goes by Power Brake Booster Exchange,
Inc., 503-238-8882

New address: 4335 SE 63rd Ave., Portland, OR 97206

There has been some recent chatter about where to get or have rebuilt
the power brake booster for single carb 300K. Are there any ideas and
or recommendations on this subject (duh).

I am in need of one or the other! Recommendations would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks

Al Van Lennep
