Re: [Chrysler300] 300D Question

Hi,
In 1961,for $1000.00, I bought a 58 Chrysler Windsor, White , 2 dr Htp. It was a Factory Standard shift.[ column ] It would run up to almost 60 in low gear ,then the valves would float. I also found out that the transmission was the weakest part of the running gear. The same tranny was used in the 6 cyl Plymouth taxi cabs. I believe the rear was a 290:1 ratio. I am looking at a picture now, I wish I still had it. It was a Key start.

Educate me. Were standard transmissions available on '58 Chryslers? If so,
I'd think a key start would have been installed. Otherwise, a push button?

Did all the '58 Chryslers use the neutral tranny button as the start
  button,
or did some of then start by turning the key? McTaggart
