[Chrysler300] '59 throttle linkage finish

Althougth a bit rusty, my linkage, including the plate that attaches to 
the firewall appears to be unpainted. Is this correct? The last piece 
that attaches to the carb seems to have been painted black. Is this 
correct or has someone made a mistake during the last 50+ yrs. Thks
