[Chrysler300] 300F Instrument Question

I have owned three Fs, and all have exhibited, at one time or another, a
mysterious malady wherein the oil pressure gauge and the temperature gauge
simultaneously start what I call "a little dance" and move up to, or near to,
their maximum indication, then after a while, return to what I hope is normal.
I just removed the oil pressure gauge on my 300F and used a piece of very
fine sand paper to clean the points on the back of the gauge. Should this have
any effect on the erratic readings? Terry McTaggart
