Re: [Chrysler300] Need help to confirm ram manifold part numbers

Hi All:
The engineering change to carb return spring brackets from the "pins" was
actually added to the ram manifold drawing in late 1959. The drawings show no
"pin" or hole for one---just a change letter referencing their removal. This
was a co-ordinated change, so the brackets would have had to be available to
the plants before the rams could be modified with the pin removal.
Evidently, this took some time, and it wasn't until late in the model year that the
brackets were apparently available. It would appear, though, that the
brackets were used as soon as they became available (understandably), and the rams
with the pins were simply used up. Since there are so few original cars with
original rams left, the exact timing is uncertain. However, our Club
reference car---that 300F owned by member Steve Albu---has BOTH the brackets and the
pins. It was scheduled for build in mid March. It even has the little
cylindrical cardboard paint masks still on the pins!!
Just some additional info for those interested.

The casting numbers were the same on the rams I checked. It appears that
Chrysler just ground the pin off, as the boss is still there.
