THe last time we were up that way and stopped at the wecolme center they 
had a poster in the window:  Moose 16  Humans 13  (as in DEAD humans)

hitting a moose at speed tends to have said moose end up thru your 
windshield and crushing the front seat occupants. Thems right heavy 
critters and talls enough to slide along the car hood right into the 
cabin. with or with out a good wax job on the car
