[Chrysler300] (Cadillac Eldorado) Parts prices

Some Cadillac Eldo Trivia follows - so hit delete now if unintertested

The Cadillac Eldorado Brougham for 1957 and 1958 used chromed alloy (solid) rims, the first year from memory they a sort turbine blade like design similar to ordinary Cadillac Eldorado 1957 ones. (The Brougham built in 1957 and 58 was only available as a pillarless 4 door with a brushed stainless roof skin, chromed alloy bumpers. 1958 saw a much more exotic/better style.
In 1959 and 60, Pinnfarina from memory, built another series of Broughams, but if one was not a Cadillac diehard, they look much similar to ordinary 59 and 60 Cadillac 4 door sedans, unlike the 57 and 58, which with their stailess roof, wrap round large bars, etc, were more obviously unique.

All Broughams 1957 through 1960 used chromed alloy solid wheels - only the centre smaller piece was a cap, it hiding the nuts.

At the same time as these Broughams, ordinary (if one can say that about Cadillacs costing way more than other 'cheaper' Cadillacs) from 1959 through 60 'non Brougham' Eldorados (coupes and converts, still of very limited production/sales) used stainless hubcaps that look identical to the 1958 Brougham solid chrome alloy wheel.

If the caps on ebay or wherever seen/noted now, are caps, and not solid wheels, they are not Brougham, but 59 and 60 Eldorado Coupe or convert - or as more commonly known , Eldo Seville, or Biarritz for convert.

All Eldos had twin 4bbls in 57, then triple 2bbl Rochesters from 58 on, air suspension standard, but brakes compared to 300s woeful from speeds above 75 mph, and bad float through dips etc at high speeds, and in lower speed 90 degree cornering, a torsion bar 300 makes them feel like 'not so good'. But body quality re rattles/noise, etc, way better than 57 - 58 300s, and I never owned a unibody 300, so others can offer comment. Sorry if I bored all those who know all this already. The triples when the other two cut in give a way more obvious punch, than 300s duals, plus top speeds were not too shabby for such heavy cars.

Prices for caps sounds way stupid, but if NOS solid true Brougham chrome alloys - if they perfect, where would there be the next/other such set, and if an otherwise finished/orighinal perfect low miles Brougham, maybe someone might want them bad?

Christopher in Australia midday Mon - inside because it raining outside for last two hours, maybe farmers might get a crop out of this year yet

They probably are referring to the Eldorado Brougham that was made from 1957-60. It cost $10,000 in 1957 and very few were made. I know that the '59-'60 was assembled in Turin, Italy. Still doesn't justify the price of the wheelcovers, but they would be rather rare. The regular production Eldos were much more abundant and the hubcaps surely wouldn't be that rare.Don WarnaarNew Jersey----- Original Message ----- From: Bob Jasinski<mailto:rpjasin@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: 'Owen Grigg'<mailto:ram300@xxxxxxxxxx> ; chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, September 21, 2008 7:33 PMSubject: RE: [Chrysler300] Parts pricesWow...unbelievable.
