[Chrysler300] 300C rear uni joint query?

1) Thank you to all those who suplied detail re McCulloch Supercharger sites/personal experience re them/that. I still have no actual email address for Andy Granatelli, but have emailed another family member, so will see what happens - thank you all.

2) I have noticed my 300C 'rear of tailshaft' uni joint has no grease nipple, carries a "Detroit" in casting on one side, part number on the other. It has little metal strap that stops two retaining caps from coming off as you fit it. Caps also have sunken Detroit cast in a depressed centre rectangle.

And I have another Detroit one, same retainer metal strip, but different casting re names cast into centre cross piece, but again no nipple.

Then I have a non Detroit one, fits 300C tailshaft and rear axle yoke, has grease nipple, but alarmingly to me, I noticed the internal cross shaft gizmo/part, plus obviously, the needle caps are of a noticeably smaller diameter. And usually this means they are not as strong?!

Are any of the three original to 300Cs, and is the same size but smaller internally one maybe for Plymouths or lighter less powerful cars? Because if smaller internal Plymouth ones fit 300s, then that is a trap re creating a potential weakness if you did not know/realise?!

The weaker/smaller one was a bit worn one I took out of my driver 300C a while back, whereas the two Detroits are in my other 300Cs, which I think have been fooled around with less.

3) the lowest plate on rear springs of 300Cs is (seemingly) stamped with both part numbers, as well as production date. On my early 300C, left hand side, there is only the 300C part number, whereas on later/April build date 300Cs, there is 1731737 (I think) stamped, it then 'XXXXXXX' 'xd/deleted' out over the top of this, and then the (second) (correct?) 300C part number stamped further out on the leaf.

Was it only early build cars that had this one number stamped only, and re later build cars, what does/did the XXXXXd out number usually go on - ie what car usually used the donor 1731737 rear spring that Chrysler obviously xxxxd out, and then stamped on/in the 300C number ?!

( Springs on the cars seem to run about 50 days before listed/microfish build dates of cars - so they likely originals ?!)

Christopher Australia, Sun pm here, 1st showers/rain for south of Australia tipped in next couple of days - just as I need to paint new panel stuff on 300C !!! Nights real cool here too, like autumn - weird so soon after so much heat
