David,

I assume the idle increases when the pedal is depressed? This would point towards a vacuum leak. I would start at the intake manifold where the tee screws into the manifold, make sure the hose is tight and not cracked where it bends going into the tee. The G has a vacuum reservoir tank inside the left from fender behind the battery tray. There are 2 larger diameter hoses going into and out of this, each of these connections should be checked.
