Re: [Chrysler300] brake assist

A slight change in idle is normal. If the brake booster is leaking, this will be most evident most times with the pedal not depressed. But, there can also be valve leaks. So, if with the pedal depressed, engine at idle, there is a slight change in idle characteristics and then normal that is OK. If idle stays rough or speeds up and stays there or slows down and stays there that is not necessarily normal. Should be able to hear a vacuum leak in the drivers seat with a firewall mounted booster.

Booster leaks are a lot of times accompanied by intermittent or constant low booster performance like a stiff pedal sometimes and sometimes not.

Pinch off the vacuum line to the booster and idle characteristics should not change. Booster should hold vacuum for at least a minute with the engine off.
