RE: [Chrysler300] tire white wall width

That would make an interesting table. I believe the 1955 and 1956 Chrysler
300's were equipped with 8.00 X 15 Goodyear Nylon Blue Streak Tubeless 6-ply
racing tires with 3" WSW's and a safety inner liner. The only tire option
was that cars equipped with wire spoke wheels were furnished with inner
tubes due to the possibility of leakage around the base of the spokes if
left tubeless. No telling what the speed rating was, but the 1955 300's
were good for about 130 MPH and the 1956 300's were clocked at speeds north
of 140 MPH. I've not seen any confirmation that these speeds were on OEM
tires, but I would assume they were and that Chrysler would furnish tires on
new cars capable of operating at the car's top speed.

Corrections? Additions? Perhaps someone who has an original of these tires
mounted and pressurized might measure the WSW width carefully and confirm
it. I would measure the width radially from the outer lip of the rim to the
outer edge of the white rubber.

C-300'ly,
Rich Barber

While we're on the subject of white side wall tires, is there a rule of
thumb as to how wide the whitewall should be for each year?

It should still be good - It's listed under my name.

Here's what you need to do to get the discount.

  Go to http://www.coker.com <http://www.coker.com/ and
  select the style
and size of tires you need. If you are unsure, the account
representative will be able to help you make a selection.

  Next, call Coker at 1-800-251-6336, and hit 2 - 3 - 5 when the
recordingstarts. That will bring you to Eric Hawkins

  <mailto:erich@xxxxxxxxx?Subject=Club%20Order%20DAVE%20STRAGAND%20Custome
r%20138492 , our account rep.

Tell him you are in with the 'Club Order' with DAVE STRAGAND,
Customer #138492 - he will give you the club discount with your
  order.

Please drop me an email after your order just to let me know
  how many
tires you ordered if you can.

You CAN order them now with the discount and pick them up at a car
show/swap meet at the Coker trailer - just specify that is
  what you
would like to do when you place your order.

Shipping of your chosen tires will be direct to you (or your tire
installer), and you would arrange payment with Coker directly.

  -Dave
