RE: [Chrysler300] 1962 Brake Light Switch

There is more than one way to skin a cat.

While the wires are disconnected, check each of the two. One should be
always hot with 12 Volts present at all times. Don't let it touch ground.
The other should have continuity to ground through the bulbs' filaments.
These checks will help further define the problem. The stoplight circuit is
fused, of course.

These checks should be valid for all Chrysler 300's.

Having won first in the 300 Category last year at the MoPar Rally at Ohlone
College in Fremont, CA; I'm entered into the Top Gun class tomorrow. Top
Gun class includes all the category winners from the previous year, so is
quite an honor. Looks like a nice day for the show. MoPar aficionados in
the area are encouraged to attend. One can really "OD" on MoPars from the
20's to date. Next year, all may be orphans. Only Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep
still alive. Orphans such as De Sotos, Plymouths, AMC's are welcome.

Even easier: Pull out the two wires from the switch and connect them
(alligator clip), this eliminates the need to push the pedal. If there is
light ? defect switch, no light ? check the bulbs first, then for voltage in
the socket.

I'd check the stoplight switch before buying a new one. Disconnect the
wires from the switch, place a continuity tester across the terminals and
press the brake pedal. If you get the continuity, the problem is elsewhere.
If not, it is the switch.

Good luck.

The fuse is good
The bulbs look good
The wire is attached to the brake light switch
Must be a bad switch; right?

Where does one get a new Brake Light Switch for our 1962 models?

Thanks!
