Re: [Chrysler300] Round or square steering wheels-'63-'64 Chryslers

I'd like to replace the round wheel on my tilt wheel K with a square one also, but have been told they're not interchangeable.? Have you tried it on yet?

My 64 Sport has the original round wheel. I just recently bought a square one to
replace it, only because I think it's just another unusual thing about
Chryslers. So if mine is changed, I suppose others could have been changed also.

Some responses:

I believe that they all had the "square" wheel, EXCEPT for the tilt wheels
which were round in every instance.? I do not believe that any tilt wheels
were square.

My 64 Sport HT parts car had a square wheel, no tilt.
My 300K conv. has a round wheel, no tilt.
The parts car had a power steering cooler, an extra AC loop around the
condenser, and a sway bar in front, The K had none of these. K is single
4bbl Expect it depended on the dealers mood when he was filling out a stock
order. In the letter cars I expect there was more owner feedback as more
would be special order.
Just my guess on the subject.

First year for tilt wheel option was 64. It was a GM part, by the way, from
Saginaw Steering Gear.
Tilt wheel steering wheels are different than non-tilt......they are not
square.

My summary--subject to correction:

Sorta looks like '63's could have had either a round or a square steering
wheel, but tilt wheel not available in '63.

'64's could be had with or without tilt wheel. Tilt steering wheels all
round. Non tilt wheels could be round or square.

Same is true for Letter Cars and Sports models--both years.

Cross-pollinating with 63-64 Chrysler group for broader consensus.
