Re: [Chrysler300] sure could use some help

Hi Bill,

I am not an expert on brakes, but have had a similar problem with one of my H's.
First, make sure that whoever is attempting to adjust the brakes follows the procedure spelled out on page 5-11 of the service manual.
Under "A. Front Brake Adjustment" - (2), I add a step after "no drag is felt" - I then turn the adjusting cam in the forward rotation direction until I can hear a faint ticking sound as I rotate the wheel in the forward direction.
Another problem could be that the shoes on the left side are not making a full contact with the drum. If the drums have been turned the maximum amount, then new shoes may need to be machined to properly fit the drums.
The last problem that I can think of would be shoes that have contaminated with grease or oil.
I have used acetone to clean minor contamination.

Hello to all,

This is my second time coming to the well so to speak for help with a problem. I have to say thanks again to all who responded to my last request a couple of months past. Your expertise and guidance saved me a lot of pain and many of the questions and answers posted on the club site have also helped solve some problems for me.

I have a 62 sport convert and have one major problem still to correct before truly having it road worthy. The brakes are completely redone but no-one can seem to get them adjusted. The car pulls very hard to the right and it's a fight to hold on to the steering wheel to the point of being dangerous if you hit the brakes hard. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks to all and keep the info coming, it's a great club.
