[Chrysler300] Battery/Starter-300F

Hi Bob,

Starter was completely rebuilt by a reputable shop but I'm not sure about the heavy duty winding. I doubt they are aware of the needs of these old, large cars. I'll find out. The battery has 850 cranking amps; supposed to be enough.

Tony Rinaldi suggested the ground should be at the block. The battery is connected where the block/intake meet.

Tom,

The starter needs to have the heavy duty stator winding installed. Did you
have it rebuilt or buy it off the shelf? There's a good chance you have the
light duty winding. I found this out when I had mine rebuilt due to the
problem you indicated. Talk to a good rebuilder and see what he says.

Having trouble with starting newly rebuilt engine. On first crank, engine
starts in one or two turns of the crank. Runs great. Once engine is warm,
and engine is turned off, engine is very, very slow to turn over and won't
start due to slow cranking. Battery is new and checks out fine. Battery has
ground to intake manifold. Starter is rebuilt.

Timing seems to be OK since car starts perfectly when engine is cold.
Changed out coil and no difference. Car starts fine when cold but won't
hardly turn over after engine is warm.

Suggestions? The only thing we can come up with is maybe the starter is bad.
It has been rebuilt twice, but maybe it still is not right. Your thoughts?
Thank you.
