Re: [Chrysler300] Timing is Everything!

There's NO timing setting that is always optimum. Optimum is at or very slightly below the faintest of audible "pinging"/detonation, That point is dependent upon fuel octane, air temp, engine temp, barometric pressure, carbon buildup, and other variables. To give you a number is at best just a starting point for correct timing adjustment. You have to do trial and error.
One of the many wonderful things about current engine control systems is that nearly all of these factors are accounted for and adjustments are continuous electronically.
Have fun!

Weekend discussion topic:

For all F, G and H owners ? What is the consensus for optimum timing for our
413?s? I am running a +13 degrees using Racing Gas (101 octane) and Big
Yellow runs great and purrs like a kitten! The trade off is that gas is
about $6.80 per gallon. Sure, that?s a lot of money, but with annual mileage
of about 1500 total, it?s tolerable.

I have run timing as low as +5 degrees, but Big Yellow was not happy, and
still would ping somewhat, especially when warm.

What say you fine folks?
