Re: [Chrysler300] Drive train boot

I believe that Andy Bernbaum sells them.

1. I would just cut the old one off, after removing the hose type clamps on either end.
2. Clean out all of the old grease.
3. (Now the fun) Grease the inside AND outside of the new boot.  The outside so that it will scrunch and slide through the housing opening.  If you do not grease it, it will be a b*%@#h to get through the transmission side housing.
4. Wipe off the outside grease, once in place and attach new clamps.

OR

Replace the u-joints & needle bearings (Ball & Trunion - also a fun job!)

OR

Have a drive shaft shop cut off the front ball & trunion and convert it to a "normal" front u-joint that will still bolt up to your transmission...which I have done to one of my '62's.

Hi Group

I had my 300 K Covv. serviced yesterday and noticed that the drive train boot was torn. Does anyone know where to get the booty and what is involved in doing the repair. Do the bearings in the shaft need to be replaced or   any other parts needed. Thanks Mike 300k Conv.
