Re: [Chrysler300] Disc Brake Conversion ..........................................................

Tom,
Yesterday by a construction zone I was approaching a traffic light at 45 MPH in my C. The light turned yellow and then immediately to red! Cars shot out into the intersection. This green to red change was in 2 secs at best. I applied the brakes firmly and was hauled down to a dead stop without lock-up before the yellow line by the AAJ 4-wheel disc brakes that I converted to in '03 (front) and '04 (rear when they first became available). The C stops like a modern car. I fretted as to what the outcome may have been without that disc braking power. I'm a firm believer in modern safety upgrades if you are driving a collector car for whatever reason (e.g. seat belts, radial tires, disc brake conversion if available, coolant recovery tanks). Total for 4 wheel disc conversion via AAJ brakes Premium Kits should cost around $1600 without the brake lines. You will have to source and have the brake lines made up locally since Roger Thomason can't obviously ship those to you. You can always keep the drum brake set-up so for a future owner who wants the original brake system can convert back and therefore the value of the car should not be diminished. My $0.02 cents worth and experience. 300'ly, ROB KERN

Happy Sunday to Everyone Out There in 300 Land!

Curious about the disc brake conversion. I have a 300E all original in
mint condition, but as everyone knows on the crowded highways with everyone
swerving in and out the way they do these days, I get the jitters when I have
to brake the big girl. I would be interested in hearing from people who have
done the disc brake conversion. Also, how does this conversion affect the
value of the automobile? How much does it cost? Is it difficult to do?
Where can the parts be obtained, etc.?

  Thanks!
