Thanks, Marv, for that great add'l info.  It explains why I found  the 
pentastar part number in my 1963 parts book. (Didn't expect it.)  I  think 
pretty much all the pentastar questions are now put "to  bed".   ----Gil C.

On another subject I worked with Pentastar's creator Mr. Stanley's  
daughter and she provided me with some of his notes. Clearly the badge was  
artistic in nature competing with numerous other symbols. It's 5 sided image  had 
absolutely nothing to do with divisions, car brands or any other  
segmentation.  I do recall though that in later ads or  commentaries it was suggested 
to be tied to automotive,  space, airtemp, boats- motors and recreation and 
chemicals like  Cycleweld.  But at its inception, it was selected for its  
image.   My 2 cents..
