[Chrysler300] Shift Cable Lubrication (?)

Hello, everyone:

I plan to reinstall the shift and parking cables on my '64. They are in fine
shape except for the rubber jacket. I plan to get the shrink tubes from Goers
but noticed his catalog stated that worn rubber or plastic covers causes leaks.

I went to the service manual and the service bulletin issued by Chrysler
(Automatic Transmission Shift Cable Removal, Installation and/or Adjustment
[October 14, 1963]), and could find no reference to these cables being
lubricated.

Since the ends of rubber jacket on my cables were not sealed, I presume they do
not need to be lubricated. Can anyone clarify? Thanks.

Best regards,
Ron Kurtz
