Re: [Chrysler300] 300H Assembly Line Question

Doug: All of the 300H cars were built using Newport bodies which is why the brackets were cut off and the correct ones installed in their place. Fern with 300H convertible.

  Hi Group,

While restoring the interior of my 2nd H, I found that the rear seat attachment brackets had been modified.

  I panicked! Did I have a clone?

After rechecking all the numbers, I confirmed that the body is correct.

The original brackets were for a bench rear seat.

I am assuming that all 2 door hardtops came down the assembly line set up for rear bench seats and that H interiors then had the brackets changed to accommodate bucket seats.

  Can anyone confirm this?

Underneath the carpet pad, I found a 3"x 6" red color plate with a paper tag:

  1962 "S" Series

  C-8580-ES

  Imperial - Chrysler

  E23N043 - B - 154026

  Caramel Enamel

  PART NO. 2178166

  May 10, 1961

  from the

  COLOR STUDIOS

  of

  RINSHED-MASON

  Company

Also found a Wrigley Spearmint gum wrapper, headliner trimmings and an assortment of fasteners.
