[Chrysler300] Fwd: power windows 63 model 2 dr Sport

OK, the problem is solved. There IS a clutch in the mechanism. At the top of the motor is a 9/16" nut with a screw head bolt inside. This bolt can be undone, the screw head tightened, the nut tightned and the system works wonderfully now both up and down. I had taken the regulator/motor/transmission in and out so many times I can do it blindfolded. The coiled spring is not under much tension when the glass is up, gains some when the window is lowered and releases it after uptime. All is well, no money spent and the cuts from the sheet metal in the door openings starting to heal.

The driver power window lowers wonderfully but will not raise without an upward pull with fingers. Took all the mechanism out, greased, oiled, smoothed, sweettalked all parts and reassembled. Still the same situation. The motor is full on in both directions, yet it free wheels towards up. Is there a clutch inside the transmission? All parts of the OEM installation are there, intact and correctly attached. The motor turns both directions with the same amount of sound and speed but not much happens on the ascent without help. After the first several inches of human lift, the window moves of its own free will and accord.
What does that coiled spring contribute? It has no tension until it is wound up. Is it to help raise the glass or lower it?
