Re: [Chrysler300] Transmission Wet Burps on a '57



How about a threaded dipstick with a o-ring and a cork. The only thing is, to check the level you have to unscrew the cap on the dipstick. May be easier than cleaning the fluid from the garage floor!!!? We should market this not so lo-tech idea. Although in the interim I will be trying the cork! 


This verifies what I have been told that the the trans shaft O-Ring is stock dimensions but the ware on the 50 year old shaft allows the fluid to seep into the pan after several days of sitting. Filling up the pan and eventually flowing out of and dripping on the floor from the top of the dipstick.

It is or can be a problem on cast iron torque 
flites, aluminum torqueflites and GM Powerglides 
among others possibly. The common opinion is 
that it is due to torque converter leak down 
which overfills the pan. I guess the first burst 
of fluid from the cooler line causes a wave that exits up the fill tube. 

The cork sure sounds like the easy low tech solution.
