I think the J/K header would be even worse, since it's so huge.  What's the Remflex made of?  It seems like only solid metal would be trustworthy.  Is all this gasket trouble because of modern day fear of asbestos?

Hi all;  I had this problem with my ex. manifolds on my 300G. I have put 3 different brands of gaskets not including the solid copper ones hanging readdy for the next time, in case they are needed. I installed the remflex brand about a year ago and they are still performing as new. They guaranteed them, money back , for 6 months.  So far I have over a thousand miles on these and the other only lasted about 500 miles before they started to leak.  As you all know it is quite a job to change these buggers asthe gaskets to the intake have to be replaced also.  I was able to loosen they intake bolts and CAREFULLY block it up to remove the header .  I would rather take a wupping with a black bull snake than change a set of these , a real challage!!

    They sell  sheets in 6.5x11" to cut the smaller ex. gasket to replace those also.  (sorry Bob )   BUT, it did work for me!!

Have you tried compressable metal gaskets? I've heard that they're available for Chevy motors, so maybe Mopars can have them, too! I'll try to find out if they do exist. I hope I can change them without removing the intakes.

Can we assume that there has been no warping of the block? Not much sense in milling the manifolds if the surfaces to which they are to mate are not true as well. I have a similar problem with my G and while I certainly don't have headers on it, I keep blowing manifold gaskets one after the other. Maybe I should consider having them milled to see what the result might be.

the manifolds need to come off and taken to a machine shop and milled flat . both surfaces against the head and the head pipe . then NO gaskets . just a little hi temp silicon gaskets maker. i am sure the two middle ports are warped, most of them are ..bob hayen

Hi,

I remember some discussion about excessive heat coming out of the exhaust ports and blowing header gaskets. Has this happened to you? Have you found a relatively easy way to fix it? I REALLY don't want to remove the intakes again. Is it possible to unfasten all the nuts and bolts and have enough wiggle room to slip on a new gasket, or even to use a sealer or liquid gasket? Is the temp. coming out of an exhaust port too much for a sealer? Didn't someone say that some of these cars didn't even get header gaskets from the factory?

I hope someone can help answer this. The noise and fumes are getting tiresome!
