Josh,
    Loosen the screws from the plate at the filler door and drop the tank with the neck as a complete unit.  Then inspect how the filler neck is attached to the tank.  You may not see the rubber seal from below or the filler neck could have been sealed by a previous owner with some “Rube Godberg” activity like mine was!  300’ly, Rob Kern

Hello guys,

I am stumped. I am working on my 300D and disconnected the small fuel line going to the fuel pump and the connector from the gauge....

BUT can't see how to remove the filler tube from the gas tank! I am not seeing any rubber hose. 

>From below I see a few inches of a metal neck but it disappears into the body.

>From the trunk I only see the metal shielding tube. Where do I disconnect the fuel tank from the filler??????
