RE: [Chrysler300] 1960 300K Ram Drum Brakes

Hello, David:

There are at least ½ dozen variants for the rear drums. Rather than repeat
them here, I?m referring you to the Chrysler Parts Manual at John Holst?s
excellent website. Go to this location and scroll down to Section 22-03-1:
http://www.jholst.net/64-parts-manual/wheels.pdf Although there are
some running year modifications, I think you?ll find the 3? wide rear drums
are fairly common and may be found on any ?63 or ?64 Chrysler including
ram-engined 300?s, New Yorkers and Imperials. Newports came with 2 ½? wide
rear drums and the Basic and Supplemental Service Manuals disagree on
whether the non-ram 300?s came with 2 ½? or 3? wide rear drums. Based on a
small sampling, I believe the Sport 300?s and the 300K?s with the base 360
HP engine came with 2 ½? rear drums standard with many buyers opting for the
inexpensive HD brake option which included the 3? wide drums. Some ?63 &
?64 Dodge 880?s were fitted with the same 3? wide drums. Later drums do not
appear in the interchange manual at John?s site.

Interestingly enough, Chrysler Parts Manual lists hub & drum assemblies and
the hubs and drums separately. Perhaps police cars and others with heavy
usage could save some money by buying just the drums and mounting them to
the hubs. That might be done without removing the hub.

Remember to obtain and mount drums with RH & LH threaded studs.

Rich Barber

Dear Fellow 300 Enthusiasts,
Still seeking to replace the rear drums on my K ram. To that end:

Can you please tell me the part # for the rear 3x11 drums on a 1964 300K Ram
car?

Also, any information on interchangeable parts (Imperials? New Yorkers? Late
model Mopars? Other)?

Many thanks as always,

David A. Morrison
