RE: [Chrysler300] Member with an overheating problem with his K

Sounds like it's time for a complete cooling system rehab.
If the system has not been serviced in a while I'd suggest
Flush/fill stat and hoses for starters.
And also double check temp sender and guage w/a infrared thermometer to be sure they are registering correctly.
I may be wrong here but I would think a non operating heat riser in the stuck closed position my play a part in overheating.

thank you rich barber for adding the word hose......... i had this problem years ago on my stock car . took an old mechanic to figure it out, he knew right off the bat what it was ... i have always listened to the old guys .. there the ones that know the most... if they dont pass the knowledge down we tend to struggle.... bob hayen

Good point, but needs the word “hose” added between “radiator” and “does”. As shown below.

if the bottom radiator HOSE does not have a spring in it this can cause problems . sometimes the spring will rust a way and the bottom hose will suck shut when the engine warms up .. very easy to check this first .... bob hayen 406 752 5152

Quoting Carlton Schroeder :

Hello,

Chuck Carlino, a current Club member from O'Fallon, MO has an overheating problem with his non-AC K. He said it has always been a problem but hopes to correct / help it with a fan shroud (from an AC car), if he could find one. Chuck thought a 63 shroud would also fit.

Chuck doesn't have email so if you could call him at 636-281-1849 that would be a big help. Otherwise you could email me and I will let him know.

Chuck may be able to attend the Spring meet but his wife is ill so he is uncertain if that will work out.

Thanks,

Carlton Schroeder
