Re: [Chrysler300] 3 F & G questions

Dave,

The fender inner panels were in place during the body drop.  Carbs were on and a "shoehorn" was used to squeeze the engine assembly into the front clip assembly.  Filler panels were put in later, I think.  I can't remember whether the air cleaners were on or not, even though I stood there in the factory and watched them assembled.

I do seem to remember that some parts of the cross-ram assembly were broken during early attempts to mate them.

Past research led me to believe fender liners were in place for the body drop over the rams and carbs, but not air cleaners.  After body drop, cutouts were bolted in and carbs attached before wheels/tires were put on.

#1 Were the fender liners installed on these cars after the body drop and engine installation

#2 Or, were they installed and  the cutouts in the liners were  to allow for clearance of the rams for the body to drop over the installation?

Was the engine fully assembled (rams and exhaust) and installed in the frame before the body drop?

Would like some input on this please

Thanks Gang
