Re: [Chrysler300] paint

I could have my info wrong, but I believe all the paints Chrysler used - at least in the Letter Car years - were enamel, and never lacquer.  GM was a big lacquer user, and I don't what what Ford did.

I just had my C-Body 66 convertible painted with California approved "water base" paint. I can't say how long it will last, but it looks great fresh. Only time will tell. If you can get the "Old school" laquer or acrylic laquer paint. Do it, pay the money. The new paint I used was over $600+ per gallon. The old paints have very different "solids added" that make the color. Who knows just what they are, except that are not allowed in current formulas. And remember "No body" will have the color on the shelf. If you get the old style paint, make sure they have the old style tints to acheive your exact color. Try Bill Hirsch, he does old school Packard engine and laquer(?) paints, excellant quality on the engine paints, never purchased any "Real" laquer paint (yet). Good Luck.
