RE: [Chrysler300] adhesive for mounting 300 medallion

I use GE RTV clear silicone.  25 years since installation of my grill medallion, zero problems.

I also used clear silicone caulk to install my 300G grille emblem over 30 years ago and it is still doing just fine.

Hi Steve,

A few years ago I was freshing up my grill and putting on a new 300 medallion from the club. I was looking for an adhesive and found " 3M Plastic Emblem Adhesive " and bought a tube thinking that it should be the perfect adhesive as I did have a plastic emblem and that's what it's for.

Whatever you do DO NOT buy and use " 3M Plastic Emblem Adhesive".

Here is what happen:

I used the adhesive according to the directions and adhered the emblem to the grill. I went about doing a few other things and a few minutes later I looked at the grill. The adhesive was eating away, melting, the plastic emblem from the backside.

I removed the emblem but the damage was already done.

I ordered another emblem from the club and this time I used clear silicone caulk. It worked perfectly and it's probably been on the car for about 8 years.

One other thing I did was make a metal plate with studs attached so that my emblem is easily removable. If my grill got damaged and I had to replace it I could easily unbolt the emblem and put it on the replacement grille. The plate works very well and looking at the car you can't tell I did that.

Good luck in whatever adhesive you do use but the clear silicone worked great for me.

Hello group,
Months ago there was a discussion on what adhesive to use to mount 300 medallions. I saved it and my computer ate it.
I want to mount the front 300F medallion.
Any thoughts would be appreciated and Happy New Year.
