[Chrysler300] RE: Mecum 300C & 300C/D help/advice needed..

1)  Both sale prices surprise me re what one thinks an early letter car should be worth - but then it is I suppose a case of someone wins out of someone else accepting what seems a low price.

And with Letter Cars, colour can be a big factor - so if someone does not want a black car, then he/they will just not bid? And of course wheels and whitewalls are very important re making an early 300 look good/right, so if poor wheels/tires on that 300C when sold 1st time, that part explains 1st low price - but wow even so I would have thought a good dry original yellow/black CA plate 300C would be worth a premium, not a discount?! But if Auction not well advertised/attended, then 'seller beware' ?!

2) HELP NEEDED - what is fastest/simplest way to get (side) glass/window that is beside rear seats out of a 300C/D - friend has a 300D (Coupe) and wants to rechrome the frames. He/we are not removing power motor or mechanisms if possible, as they seem set pretty right.
I see a couple of sets of smallish bolts into the frames - is that how one removes glasses - or is there a simple (????!!) release clip like on front door glasses.

Christopher in Australia - amazing nice cool summer days here just after we had run of record temperatures, then big one day rain/flood

John
Was the 300C in question from the Auction in Redding Ca., If it was, I went and looked at the car. Body wise it was OK, but had aftermarket wheels, not well finished but overall appeared as good driver. The fellow also had many letter cars and non letter 300's, Chryslers, DeSoto's as well as Cadillacs, etc. Plus many parts, Brass era parts and engines, even a ~56 2x4 Hemi complete. I bid on several cars, took home a 68 Chrysler Sweepside convertible. Missed on several 300's convertibles, 57 Windsor 2Dr hardtop, should have bid more. Hind sight is always....20X20....as they say. The 300C was a GOOD deal, then and now.

I inquired with Mecum about the 300C that was just sold in Florida. The VIN number shown below is the same as the one sold last October in California. Someone mentioned that they had seen the car, and that a few changes (wheels, tires and door panels) had been spiffieed up. The price had gone from $25,000 to $39,500 in 6 months.

John Holst...

The VIN we have on file is 3N571116.
